I remember a post though from a young women who had non of these, but cured her dry eye with allergies shots after suffering for years. She did see a supportive experienced professional though, who ran about 200 tests for allergic reactions on her and finaly found several. I think her post is in the triumph forums but is a few years old. Alas I'm in the UK where allergies shots do not exist

Two of the ophthalmologists that I went to thought I might have allergies because my left eyelid (the eye I have most trouble with) had bumps under it. The eyelid is red and inflamed, but I also do have the typical blepharitis symptoms like the eyelash loss and white stuff in my eyelashes. Maybe it's a combination of both? I honestly don't know at this point. It's a matter of finding someone that's willing to take those extra steps and get to the bottom of it, and I haven't yet. And quite frankly, I've lost hope.

I wonder if one can trigger another? If I had I been told it could be a possible allergic reaction I would want to go ahead with getting tests done and reading as much as I could on it.

I'm now seeing a function medicine practitioner who has put me in touch with companies mostly in Germany who do mail order allergies testing(and many others like, hormonal, adrenaline fatigue) to a very high standard, which is pricy but is the only way I can get a range of tests done here - on a side note, there are also things like vitamin deficiency that can trigger dry eye and even things like lymes disease that can goundetected for years, (due to to it being impossible to detect unless you knew you were bitten by a tic at the time, and these tics have been found in busy city central parks!) there's so much more you can look into, keep looking for your answer , it's out there some where.
People have recovered, so can we.

That's the problem with our eyes, a million things can be the cause of them acting out. Finding out what the cause is, is not an easy task. But you seem to be on the right track, you're being proactive. I hope you get some answers. Do let me know how things work out.

I'm actually seeing my family doc today and I'm going to insist on a referral. If she doesn't like it, well I'll find another doc. We have to take care of ourselves and as you said, if it can't be fixed, they don't bother to dig deeper, so we need to.

My opto said some people do find the dexa dry their eyes. I offered to try it again but he said I didn't need to, so I'm find with that.

I've upped my Omega 3 from 3 caps to 4 daily. As my opto said, I may not feel it but who knows what my eyes would be like if I weren't taking them .... which I guess is true.

I'm finding the press and seal really helps at night. This is the only thing that keeps my eyes closed. Granted my eyes still dry out but not as badly as before. It's a pain when I get up at night but if it works ...

I"m sorry you're depressed. I am too but I've convinced myself that I need to keep at it because the alternative is worse.

I wish I could help you more. Whatever specialist you want to see, insist on it, no matter what you family GP says! I'll let you know if it works for me today.

It took at least 15 different eye doctor visits to finally get a diagnosis. The symptoms are quite typical though. Swollen eyelids, loss of eyelashes, white particles in my eyelashes etc. Funny how despite all this so many doctors failed to diagnose me with blepharitis. I went to a drop in eye clinic due to swollen eyelids and eye pain and asked the ophthalmologist if I could possibly have blepharitis and she said "that's a little too exaggerated to suggest" and then she prescribed allergy drops, saline and a steroid/antibiotic drop to use in case the allergy and saline drops didn't work. She obviously didn't know what was wrong with my eyes and basically told me to try all these to see what works.

However, I'm not sure what the symptoms of allergies are? Are they similar to blepharitis symptoms?
              Hi.
I know this post is several years old but I hope to get an answer because I'm depressed. How are your eyelashes now? have they stopped falling please? THANKS
