My son has keratoconus. He only rubs his eyes while asleep, but will do it very hard with his knuckles for 5 - 8 seconds each time roughly 2 - 4 times a night. We have tried just about everything - different brands of eye drops (allergy and artificial tears), changing bedding, goggles and sleep masks (unknowingly takes them off), aggressively treating allergies (allergy shots, antihistamines, nose sprays), etc. Nothing seems to work. He never has any problems during the day. Not sure if it's dry eyes or allergies or both. Doctors haven't been able to provide any viable solutions.
