Final follow-up appt. below. I still have some discomfort in my left eye in the mornings especially (until around noon) with some itchyness, extra fluid and blurry vision. Disappointing.

"Overall dry eye and MGD have improved. Tear break-up time improved from 6 seconds to 11 seconds which puts you in normal range. The meibomian glands are now producing an adequate amount of oil. The blood vessels growing over the back of the eyelid margin are regressing. The corneal staining has completely resolved in the right eye (meaning no presence of inflammation) with only a small amount of corneal staining noted on the inferior cornea of the left eye."

Finally got a specific reply from the doctor who says, "You are only at about 15 - 20% gland atrophy. However, the majority of your glands were plugged and not producing oil."

It has been about 6 weeks since I finished the 4 IPLs and the Lipiflow, and my follow-up appt. is this week (not a Lipiview but probably doctor finger-testing some glands).

I am guessing this helped about 30-40%, going on frequency of eye drops needed and irritability of eyes in general. Disappointing, yet I would probably repeat the process in the future if my eye quality decreases to where it was.

I am trying to find this Cissou, I'll post it once I get in touch with my doctor.

    Trying IPL

Hi, I would like feedback from patients who either 1-have been diagnosed with ocular rosacia and/or 2-have done this procedure. I just had my 3rd treatment out of 4 prescribed from my dry-eye doc, each treatment is 2 weeks apart. (13 jewels on nose/cheeks, 12 or 13 on eyes.) I do notice less eye discharge and some lessening of rosacia redness, but it is too early to be sure if this is worth the discomfort of the treatment.

The doctor will follow up with a Lipiflow, also 2 weeks after the 4th IPL. The plan here is that the IPLs will reduce the inflammation associated with ocular rosacia before doing a Lipiflow; and this makes good sense to me, since I also have Map-dot dystrophy on my corneas, which first Lipiflow esasperated RCES I was experiencing at the time--it was a painful 3 weeks until my MB oils returned.

I was glad when I learned that my dry-eye doc was now doing IPLs, as I did not yet have a confirmation that I suffer from ocular rosacia until he did the Lipiview and confirmed this. I was not willing to go to a spa setting for an IPL, since I would get treated for my ocular rosacia, not for facial rosacia (I have a "mild" case of facial rosacia).

    Thanks for any input!
