  • Dry eye & keratoconus comorbidity?

Hello, I started having a problem with dry eye last year. I went and saw my regular ophthalmologist a few months ago and he told me I have keratoconus. I shortly afterward went to see a keratoconus specialist. Right now, the most effective way to make the sting go away from my eyes is to rub them with a tissue / paper towel. I am worried that may make my keratoconus worse. Any ideas?

I have not mastered putting drops in my eyes. I have not tried warming treatment yet.

    Thank you.

Probably not a good idea to rub your eyes, that may make your condition worse. You might look into getting a consult to see if you are a candidate for scleral lenses. Not everyone can tolerate them, but if you can, it could help immediately provide some relief for keratoconus. Sclerals are also used to alleviate dry eye symptoms. Here’s some info for PROSE scleral lenses which I used to use for my dry eyes, but there are also other brands:

I understand it is not good to rub my eyes, but when they hurt that bad, nothing else I have tried relieves them. I am certainly happy to take suggestions.
