    Hi everyone.

Arizona resident. I have had on and off dry eye problems for several years now.

Most of the time, it's under control with Restasis.

The big, and I mean BIG problem occurs when I drive for more than a couple of hours. I sometimes have to drive for work, about 2-3 times per year and often for 4-6 hours. This is when the dry eye problems are serious. It feels like my corneas are sunburn and the pain is crazy. OTC pain medication and a couple of steroid drops fix the problem, but it's hell when driving. Yes, I know about the steroid drops, so I only use them 1-2 times per year which has been cleared by my MD.

I'm scheduled to see a cornea expert in August. I did have PRK 30 years ago, but never had problems until the last 3-4 years. Otherwise, my eyes check out fine.... but most Ophthalmologists seem to treat dry eye like it's an "old person" disease. I have yet to find a Dr. who will work with me to find out what the underlying problem might be.

I'm planning on using a commercial grade humidifier in the vehicle in the future. The small, cheap 12v. plug in units do not help as I've measured the RH in the vehicle and it does not raise the RH levels that much. I do turn the vents away from my face but that does not work, so I'm assuming it's either the dry air (low relative humidity) or possibly less blinking. I do wear high end RayBan prescription sunglasses.

Just introducing myself and wondering what over drivers have done to help with this.

    Thanks!
