  • Blepharitis, MGD

    Hey!

    For introducing myself:
At the age of 16, it all started, with burning eyes, that I couldn't even keep my eyes open for approximately half a year. And then suddenly it stopped.
At the age of 21 the problems came back. At the beginning it was just a dry left eye when studying too much in front of the PC and so on. Over the time it got worse, probably also because one doctor couldn't really find the problem. One year was pretty up and down but in the end after coming back from the US to Europe I realised that my pain got chronic/permanent on my left eye, I got diagnosed one and a half month ago with Blepharits, severe dry left eye. (TBUT under one second)
It's really horrible and a hard struggle to fight every day from morning to bedtime and when you wake up in the night. After treatment of various antibiotics & so on (don't want to bore you;-)), Eye Lid Hygiene, I am since two weeks on Minostad (Doxycyline).
I know it's too early to say that it does not work at all but I can't see any improvements at all. I hope the eye lid care, the antibiotics, Doxy and myself will ever work again;-(, but it will!;-) I will definitely keep you updates about my conditions. As all of you I will do anything to get a handle on my dry eye problem; the next step will be Restasis, DHEA or the serum.
For all of you; don't give up, we'll fight it!

    Hey Bro!

    Hi !
Annoying, this left eye, isn't it?
Mine is also a bit grumpy, and "he" likes bothering me all day long...
I love you will of fighting... Blepharitis is such a problem.
I know that some people in France have good results with a product called Calendulene. It doesn't heal, but it helps a lot apparently. Can't say as I don't have blepharitis... But I don't know if it's commercialised in Austria.
Such a problem also, products that are available in one specific country and no possibilities to order them from abroad. (For instance, Restasis? lol ;-)
Keep your hope, especially if it already happens that your dry eye syndrom disappeared for several years. That can happens again !
Hey, nobody said life would be easy right? Please mum, next time you give birth to me, spend more time on the conception of my eyes, okay?

      Hi Cityhunter!
Thanks for your reply and your product suggestion. I will figure out what my next treatment step will be mid july with my doc. So far drops and gels have only temporary worsened my condition;-). Well we'll see. Still hope that the Doxy will kick in some day, I plan to give it a 6 months try. Keep you updated.

        Hi alberat,
I too have problem mainly with left eye - although Opt says both eyes have bad tear film. I too am using Doxy. I think lid hygiene is important with blepharitis (even though i dont have marked blepharitis) - I've been lazy with it last few days and have a bad dry eye today.
