    cauterization

    Hi,
I have been suffering with dry eyes for about 10 years and used the plugs. They never stayed in so finally I had the cauterization done. I was so miserable before taking that step that I wasn't sure what to do. It got to the point that I couldn't stand any light and the pain in my eyes was excrutiating. I'm always nervous about doing anything that is permenant but decided to take the plunge about a year ago. I had one eye done just to see how that would work and within a week I was back to get the other eye done. It took about two weeks for my eyes to adjust but it's the best thing I have done. I have not suffered with photosensitivy and my eyes feel better. Being that it's winter my eyes are suffering from the furnace running so I have a humidifier going at all times and I just recently purchased the eye drops Dwelle, Dakrina, and NutriTear and I'm very pleased so far. You mentioned that you use the tranquileyes. Are you getting results? I'd love to hear your input. I recently purchased the tranquileyes and I'm not seeing any improvement so I'm thinking about sending it back. I'd appreciate your thoughts and opinion on this product. Thank you.

      Question about the tranquileye?

You didn't say how long you have had them or how often you have used them.

Relief from them isn't an instant thing. I wore mine for a week or two before deciding I'd never part with them.

I'm actually having my punctums cauterized for the second time later this week. I had them done about a year ago and last week while checking my eyes for bandage lens, Dr. G told me they had come undone. Didn't surprise me. I've got autoimmune issues and this happens often.

Keep your tranquileyes for awhile and ask questions about problems before sending them back. <just my two cents>

        Tranquileye

Thank you for the suggestion. I have only used the tranquileye goggles a couple of times but will certainly give it longer. I also have autoimmune issues that have caused the dry eyes. I had my punctums cauterized about 10 months ago and am due to go back for a check-up. I didn't realize that the cauterization could come undone. Thanks for the input.
