  • autogolous serum tears and chlorella

I have been using autogolous serum tears for five months
and they have helped me a lot.

    My questions are:

Has anyone used serum tears for more than five months and if so, how long have you used serum tears for?
Do you dilute with saline or not?

My second question is Chlorella. Has anyone used this vitamin
supplement with success? It is a type of green freshwater plant.

Thank you for any information you have.

I have been using serum for nearly three years. My doctor spins my blood and adds the serum (don't know in what amount) to a preserved over-the-counter eye drop. I keep unused bottles in the freezer until needed. The open bottle is kept in the refrigerator.

I do think they helped me turn the corner and get my constant burning under control.

    Never tried the chlorella.

      autogolous serum

      Thank you for your response.

I have to take twelve red top tubes a month.
I remember you said you just draw once every six months.

What kind of other eye drops do you use?

I was told by one eye specialist to use only restasis, serum and refresh endura.

Sometimes the more drops of the wrong kind can dry your eyes out.
I was using genteal, lacrilube and tear gel, systane, optive which dried out my eyes more.

He told me to be careful what you put in your eyes. Serum was the best thing.

I cannot disagree with the advice to use Restasis and Endura. Refresh products do see to be popular.

I'm not familiar with all the products you mentioned, but I would advise against any gel or nighttime product that contains petrolatum. I cannot tolerate it, and per Dr. Holly (the creator of the drops sold on this site), petrolatum does not mix well with your own natural tears.

Having said that, Genteal is no such product. In fact, it's quite popular on this site for nighttime use. Systane is a nice drop as well. It's one of the few I appreciate. As a matter of fact, I have chosen it as the medium for my serum. It freezes nicely and feels good going in.

I use Nutratear at night (purchased on this site) and that's about it. I do not use drops during the day generally. If I'm having a bad day, I find using my serum drops and closing my eyes for a while helps me to recover. Nothing else really can help me recover if things have gotten really bad.

Overall, I do believe that keeping drops to a minimum is ideal. Washing away your natural oils and tears constantly is not entirely healthy. Mixing tons of different types of drops is probably not a great idea either. For now I feel I'm withing reasonable parameters for eyedrop use.

Things aren't great, but I can function without my eyes being at the forefront of my thoughts. That's more than I ever thought I'd manage.

          autogolous serum tears

Thank you Diana for your detailed response.

I believe autogolous serum tears really help. I had lasik July 2004 and had
suffered severe, I mean really severe chronic dry eyes.
Many terrible things happened to me. I could not work, drive and function
          normally.

It was only until I started using autogolous serum tears that my eyes
did not burn so much. I started the serum in June 2007.

I have been on them for five months and stopped using many eye drops.
I find some types of drops made my eyes worse and dried them out more.

          My questions are:

          1. At what time line, did you find you only needed to use
serum morning and night? I mean after one year of serum treatment or two years? I still need to put in restasis and refresh every two hours or so.

          2. How much saline do you add to your serum?

I am wondering if serum is something like a three to five year treatment plan
          for me.

Thank you very much for your valuable input.

As I recall I discontinued extensive use of serum after only a few weeks. Now I am only morning and night. I do not know how dilute my serum is. My doctor does this and if I've asked him, I have forgotten.

I will say I have considered using Restasis on occasion, just to see if I can improve a bit more. If I did improve on it, I would expect to use it indefinitely.

Similarly, I foresee having blood serum made for me until my doctor decides to stop doing it or he retires. I am perfectly happy seeing him every six months or so and having my blood drawn. If he were to stop, I'd find somebody else. That is, of course, unless some dynamite pharmaceutical product arrives and does something spectacular. (I do still have hope!)
