  • The Dry Eye Remedy (the book)

I'm just wondering if any of you have heard of this book? it's by DR Lankity not sure how to spell his name, but aperantly he has found a way to clear Blepharastis which is what i have, I have tried all methods described, and all eye drops still Bleph is not improved, i'm only 24, my eye sight is fine nothing wrong with that, but i can't go out to clubs and don't feel like going out to social gatherings cause my eyes are always RED. Even when i go out to social gatherings and drink Alcohol they go even reder?
The best eye drops that work, are VISINE allergy eye drops, but the doctor told me not to use them, as they can make things worse.

Anyway i'm just wondering whats this book all about, i've already bought this book and i'm expecting it anytime with in 4-6 weeks and wondering what else there can be done to the eyes that no other doctor knows about, or is this just another money making scam?

    Hi there and welcome.

I'm very fond of the book - I think it is a good solid education with good solid practical advice, and not a scam. But dry eye disease is not always to be brought under control quickly. It takes A LOT OF PATIENCE and some diligent experimentation being careful not to try too many things at once and with attention to the details.

Your doctor is absolutely right about the visine. If you have ocular allergies, you may need to get an appropriate allergy drop from your doctor, which will probably not be an over-the-counter one. But if from what you've said the main problem is blepharitis, be prepared for the old "patience and persistence" route and do not be too quick to write off a method that does not seem to work. If one lidscrub method does not help after sufficient trial, try another. If one heat pad does not help, try another. Similarly, if you've been genuinely compliant for a good period of time and you're not getting sufficient help from your doctor, it may be time to ask for a referral to a specialist.

If you're drinking at night make sure you drink lots more WATER too - this will help offset the effects - and stay away from smokey environments if possible. Maybe try cool compresses during the day. Maybe try moisture retaining glasses during the day to help your eyes heal up enough that they look better at night. I understand redness is very socially inhibiting. But focusing on the long term treatment is the key.

      Hi there.
The book is good but really just a beginner's guide to dry eye. There is no news in the book which you wont find on this site. There is no "cure" for blepharitis in the book because it is only manageable, not cureable. I wouldnt say it is a scam - it is a book! Can a book be a scam? The book doesnt claim to be able to cure dry eye, it's about treatments, causes and how to manage.

What's the big deal with red eyes anyway? Mine have never looked especially red or bloodshot but itch like heck. If they were bloodshot maybe folk would understand the discomfort more.

I have MGD and my eyes are horribly bloodshot with permanent veins. I feel ya. Drink lots of water and maybe consider taking Flaxseed or Fish oil. I have been dealing with MGD for about a year now and I haven't seen much improvement with all these treatments either. But boy do I notice when I stop the treatments! The pain and the redness becomes unbearable. So, even though it may seem like the treatments like compresses, eye lubricants, etc aren't working, they are. It's just extremely hard and takes alot of patience to clear it up completely. It's more of a managing it thing.
