  • Dry eyes in Delaware

    Hello everyone.

I just recently found this forum and have really enjoyed reading all the good information about dry eyes and what and what doesn't help.

I have always had dry eyes, I guess, but the last 2 years it has gotten really intense. In November the eye doctor prescribed Restasis telling me that my tear production is not working as well as it used to. The Restasis was awful in the beginning and my eyes burned so bad it was just terrible. It took about a months to get over this. I still use OTC eyedrops during the day, as sitting on the computer all day seems to dry my eyes out despite the Restasis.

I am looking forward to being a member of this community.

    Thanks!

    Nice to meet you...

I'm new here, too. Sorry to hear about your dry eyes. I know what you mean about computer work -- my eyes always feel so dry after staring at a monitor for several hours.

Do you feel the Restasis has helped at all? Have you had Lasik or other surgery, or do you have "virgin" dry eyes?

      Hello Maenad1

Thanks for your reply and welcome:-).

I honestly don't know if the Restasis is doing the trick completely. I thought with that I wouldn't need to take any other eye-drops, which is not the case. Sometime in the next two months I need to see the doctor again to make sure that it is helping. He thought I might take them for a while, but not permanently, which makes me wonder.......but oh well, it's hard to find a specialist dealing with dry eye symptoms in this area.

No surgeries, my eyes just started drying out more and more:-).

      Take care!

        MD a possibility?

HI, Toguchi, and welcome. . .Are you in a part of Delaware that is reasonable driving distance to the Baltimore region? Tomorrow I am going to try out a new doc who comes highly recommended from another member here. . . .If he seems thoughtful and willing to digest my whole long history, and to listen to what really has worked for me (moisture chamber glasses/wraps and the Dr. Holly drops), I will send contact info. for him to the Plug A Doc section here. . .

I am also a spontaneous dry eye case. . .I had rather sudden onset 10 years ago. . .Am now doing hugely better, thanks to THIS community, which connected me with just about everything I need in order to remain functional. . .I was also on Restasis for a long time. . .Have graduated to new things, though. . .There are a world of possibilities for you, Toguchi, to consider, and I think chances are great you are going to get lots, lots better. . .

Thanks Roijzen, so there is hope after dry eyes:-)?

Baltimore is too far for me unfortunately, but we have quite a few doctors here in Delaware and I hopefully will be able to find someone that is better than the one I have now.

I haven't been able to check in here, so what do you use now for your eyes and does it work?

          Take care!
