  • Dry eyes after Lasik

I'm a male in my 30s who has experienced dry eyes after Lasik.

I'm 18 months post op and I have 20/20 vision.

My condition has improved a lot over the 18 months. The first 6 weeks were awful!!!

Yes, I'm angry that my lasik surgeon never discussed the chance, however small, of developing permanent dry eye syndrome.

My condition had improved quite a bit after 12 months. My eyes used to be so dry that they'd "peel" open in the morning when I'd wake up. They're not that dry anymore.

At 15 months, I decided to get checked out at the Jules Stein Eye Center. I was put on Restasis and BioTears supplements. My eyes still look a bit red sometimes. But my condition seems to be improving. Now, there are times when I can't feel the dryness. Now it's intermittent; only flaring up from time to time. So far so good.

If things change, for better or worse, I'll post about it.

    Hi Raginator,

So glad to hear of your progress! It is great that you posted, because there are alot of new members here that are struggling early after lasik, and your story is very encouraging. I hope your improvements continue!
