  • Hi Everyone

Hey everyone, just signed up here to hopefully get answers and share my story about my eyes.

I'm 19 and 4 months ago I woke up and my eyes hurt and they were red. It didn't go away. I saw an optometrist who said I needed new glasses and I also had allergies. My problems got worse after that, so I went to a different optometrist. I had, and still have, this funny feeling that my glasses are somehow wrong. The new optometrist said they were right, and my pain and redness in my eyes were stress related. Take more breaks. Well, I do. I take a 5 minute break from the computer every half an hour.

My eyes were so red and dry, I couldn't even have a nice day out. But they seem to be getting less red now. However the pain has doubled. And the pain is unexplainable. They don't feel dry, they just feel 'wrong'. After I use the computer for 5 minutes it feels like I've been staring at the monitor for 10 hours... And my chosen profession is... COMPUTERS! When I play games it's even worse, my eyes burn so badly but I just have to live with it, what else can I do?? I drowned my eyes in systane, which did nothing... Now I'm trying to use drops less because I fear my eyes just produce less tears if I use drops too much which makes me rely on them.

The pain I've been getting recently is really bad, and it seems to just keep getting worse. I'm going to the doctor next Thursday to get tested for everything, and I want a referral to an eye specialist. I'm really hoping my glasses are wrong, I don't understand how my eyes can feel so stressed when they aren't. And these problems only arose after I got the new glasses. I've tried not wearing glasses but it's too hard not to, I just can't concentrate (astigmatism). Even with the glasses it is SO difficult to concentrate on a computer screen. The glasses make it crystal clear, but I just can't keep focused...

I understand everyone's pain of not wanting to go anywhere because everyone will look at you and think "druggo". I've tried some techniques on this site, nothing has helped yet though. I want new eyes!

    Hi levymetal,
If you find a place where you can buy a new pair of eyes at a bargain (or even not at a bargain, actually), please let us all know! More seriously, though, I and so many others feel your pain. Things can and will get better. You are doing the right thing by going to the doctor. One step at a time, you will get better. Many of the techiniques you have read about on this site do work, it is just a matter of time and patience and experimenting. Keep the faith! God bless! Judy

      Thankyou for your reply

I went to the doctor, he prescribed a drop to see if it was allergy related. Didn't do anything, so it's probably not allergies. So annoyed with my eyes right now though, my symptoms keep chopping and changing... I have no eye pain today and my eyes don't feel dry at all! They feel normal! But when I go look in the mirror, they are much more bloodshot than they usually are. I'm going to make an appointment with an eye specialist soon.
