Hi - I joined this site over a year ago although haven't really posted all that much, long story short ...
I stopped a course of isotretinoin after only 8 weeks, that was 18 months ago (Jun 2007) due to an eye infection in each eye. Had very sore eyes all day and upon waking.
On eye specialists advice I stopped lenses for a couple of months and was on preservative free eye drops. Very slowly my eyes got better (it took a while) and in approx May 2008 they were almost back to normal. This continued up until Sep 2008 when all of a sudden I could not wear my lenses anymore, my eyes were extremely sore again and I was back to square one.
Its been over 4 months now and my eyes are still very sore.
I have been back to my original eye doc (who been with for 18 mths) who said ''there is nothing up with your eyes in terms of dryness, could be allergies to something ... see me in a few months"
I decided to get a second opinion off another doc last week who said "you have MGD, take flax (already am as theratears caps and have been for 3mths) and lacrilube at night, theres nothing more I can do." and "why did you come and see me if you have been under someone else?"
I also for info saw another doc last year (around Mar) who said I had a mucin deficiency? Again, take eyedrops, nothing more I can do.
I have seen THREE ''SPECIALISTS'' in 18 months all of which have given different reasons for my probs. The latest one very unsympathetic and bascially questioned why I was questioning my other docs diagnosis by seeing him !
Any advice appreciated.
