  • Hi

I am new to this site. Are there any dry eye specialists in AZ?

    Hi Sabrina,
I also live in AZ and was given the names below by a dry-eye optometrist in CA. He said that these optometrists are involved with dry-eye research.

    - Marc R Bloomenstein OD,FAAO
    - John Rinehart, OD
    - Frank Akers, OD
    - Steve Cohen, OD

Prior to getting this list, I saw 4 local ophthalmologists that don't seem to know much. Since then I have seen Dr. Bloomenstein once. He seemed better than the others but I have not gone back to see him yet.

Good luck, and please let me know if you hear of other good ones in town (or bad ones to avoid).

      Dry in Az

Thanks for the info. I will definately let you know if I find someone good. I feel the same way. Been Dr. shopping and feeling so frustrated that nothing seems to work. Restasis made me feel much worse and after almost 3 weeks I had to stop it. Today I went to the opthomologist and he inserted a plug in the lower eye but only in one eye. Told me to come back in a month and we'll see how it's working by comparing that one to the eye without the plug. What people don't seem to realize is a month seems like years when you have this condition. It's the worst thing I've ever dealt with. Also am wondering if the plugs are going to work then how long until you can expect relief? This was inserted 3 hours ago and I feel no different. But maybe it is too soon? If things don't get better I will have to consider moving somewhere the air isn't so dry.
