Dry eye patients in Belgium

Hello everybody,

I am a Belgian dry eye patient and was wondering if there are any other Belgian dry eye sufferers on this forum.
It would be nice to talk about good drs in this part of Europe and share info about treatment experiences.

Hi Christoph,

Yes there are! I live in Turnhout. I've had as much as 3 or 4 different eye specialists in the local hospitals, but none of them could help me.
My GP then referred me to a specialist in Leuven: professor Mombaerts. It can take a while to get an appointment because she only has patients on fridays and there's quite a long list...
I'm currently under treatment of her, tomorrow is my next appointment.
I heard there's also a good one in Antwerp.

Thanks a lot for your reply. I know Belgium is a small country, but at least big enough to have minimum 2 dry eye sufferers :-) or must I say :-(
Since you gave the first reaction in weeks on my thread, I don't think that there are a lot of Belgian people on this forum. I have sent you a private message in Dutch so we can speak in our motherlanguage. But it would be nice if there other people from this region who will share there stories/treatment experiences and reply to this thread.

Nog iemand uit Belgie!!

Hoi,

Ik ben sabine en zat vroeger elke dat op het forum en kwam vandaag nog eens piepen.
Ik zal eerst jullie verhaal eens lezen voor ik hier verder typ.
Korte samenvatting :

lsik 10 of 11 jaar geleden met zeer zware droge ogen tot gevolg en volledig toe gecauteriseerd.
Nog steeds pijn en blijvend arbeidsongeschikt verklaard.

Dag Sabine,

Dank om een berichtje te posten en excuses voor mijn late reactie! Ik heb het druk gehad de laatste tijd en ben hier al een tijdje niet meer geweest.
Ik heb mijn job ook moeten opgeven door mijn oogproblemen. Dus ik voel met je mee. Ik denk dat jouw situatie (blijvend arbeidsongeschikt) nog een stuk erger is dan de mijne, maar dat blijft wel subjectief natuurlijk. Alhoewel ik mij elke dag afvraag of ik ooit wel terug een job zal kunnen doen waarbij ik vaak onder de mensen moet komen. Mijn sociale omgang is zeer sterk afhankelijk van mijn ogen (d.w.z. vaak gewoon zo erg gesteld dat ik het liever niet doe).

Hou je sterk en als je een woordje wil wisselen, laat je maar iets weten via het forum of via een persoonlijk berichtje.
