  • Eye Doctor

Just to keep you updated I had my appt today and I am not sure I am any further forward. He seem to do a lot of test, orange dye in eye, lights etc. He finished off by saying the back of the eye is healthy it all seems to be ok and keep taking the eye drops.

    That was it!

I am grateful that the my eye is healthy etc but not sure where to go now on how to deal with my eye.

I suppose I need to keep trying different things. As you know I was worried because of the pain.

I dont think he did any tests for dry eye, well none that I was aware of.

    Indeed

That's the sort of rubbish we get! He has basically given you a bog-standard examination and announced you don't have Glaucoma or Macular Degeneration - the two sight affecting serious problems of the eye. "Don't worry your sight is fine, just keep taking these drops which won't help - your pain isn't serious!"
These doctors aren't concerned about dry eye - its not easily fixed and not immediately serious.
Where you go from here is away from the standard path of GP, referral, then NHS Specialist. It took me about nine months of dry eye problems to realise 1. NHS can't help 2. The problem is not going to go away of it's own accord.
All I can advise is you find someone with special interest in dry eye and you read up all you can and try and source the cause of your problem. There are no easy answers and no magic cure. Have you thought about having punctual plugs fitted?
