  • Seborrheic dermatitis / Nizoral

Well, finally I'm finding out facts. I asked my Doc for a referal to dermatologist and she was very good at spelling things out.

My doc and I thought I had Rosacea. I have red cheeks, I've noted I respond better to cleaning my eyes with cold and not hot water etc...but the derm thinks it's seborrheic dermatitis - mild to view but seems to cause me a lot of eyelid pain!

She's prescribed me Nizoral which I'm curious about and I will see how it goes.

The dermatologist was really good at looking actually at my eyes - which surprised me as I didn't think she would but was glad for that. Eye doctors have been so dismissive but I figure if I have blepharitis someone can help me find out why

    Nizoral

Do you mean Nizoral cream - Ketoconazole?

A dermatologist prescribed that for me around 10 years ago. It was effective for a time but it doesn't do any good now. I don't suffer with rosacea; I asked to be referred to a dermatologist because no-one else had come up with anything worthwhile and it seemed a logical thing to do.

Nizoral is certainly worth trying - I hope it helps. It was my lifeline for quite some time. I smeared a small amount on the top and bottom lids a couple of times a day. I was advised to use it `sparingly'.

thanks for that as they gave me a lot of info but didn't say about putting it on my eyelids precisely so I was sort of tentatively doing that last night! Sounds like you went to the dermatologist for the same reason I did.

I'm curious how it will go. It is the ketoconazol cream - and the shampoo too. Cream to use twice a day - seems to go far and the shampoo twice a week. I'm to put it where my skin flakes - I don't visibly have that much but then again I've been covering it maybe with my cleaning regime.
