Same here, I've only seen 2, but useless to be honest. Told I had dry eye, did some blood tests to rules things out, but cannot tell me the cause, and as another sufferer pointed out, dry eye is a symptom of something that causes it. I appreciate that doesn't help, but was just sympathising. Feeling particularly sorry for myself today, as I fell down the stairs earlier, and have spent the morning in casualty, and cannot walk, but maybe the pain will take my mind off my eyes!! If you do find one, please let us know. Good luck
I can highly recommend Dr Michel Guillon in London, who I discovered through others' recommendations on this website.
He actually specialises partly in dry eyes, and it's clear that he actually knows what he's talking about (at least compared to opticians, GPs, and NHS-referred eye doctors I've come across).
It's £90 for an initial 45 minute consultation, which basically includes:
- You filling out a form describing your symptoms
- Basic investigation of the eye, to check for corneal damage etc
- Two separate dye tests to check for dryness
- Investigation and photos of the eyelid margins
- Suggested method(s) of treatment
He told me I had mild-moderate blepharitis and Meibomian Gland Dysfunction, and suggested treatment of:
- Theratears foam for blepharitis
- Lid massages with sanitised wipes for MGD
- Protective eyewear to guard against windy environments etc
- Clarymist spray and eyedrops for general dry eye relief
- Night time gel drops to improve eyes upon waking
So the methods of treatment are the kind of things that are suggested on this forum for free, but I can't overstate the importance of getting a proper diagnosis by someone who knows what he's doing / talking about (even though I was pretty sure what I knew what conditions I had anyway).

Funny you should mention him, I an appointment with him today, he is fantastic. Saw his name last week on another post whilst searching through the forum and got straight in.
Cost me slightly more than £90 but with that I had the dry eye contact lens check with him, various eye tests beforehand and then environmental tests at his other clinc in st. james' place too.
He's advised I have mild bleph, 20% blocked glands and some probs with inflamation.
It was great to actually see the pics he showed me with the blocked glands, and dry spots etc. He was very thorough, I have never been in with an eye doc for so long (2 hours with him) and then additional tests in his other clinic
He has given me a four week plan to start with:
1. Supranettes - morning and eve
2. Cationorm - 4 x daily (never heard of this one)
3. Systane - 3 x daily alternating with the cautionorm
So... fingers crossed, would definately recommend him to anyone based in the UK and hopefully I can get this under control
Right, I'm going to sort this out. Am sick of it. Can't type for much longer, as very uncomfortable, and terrible haze around the computer, and I keep getting different diagnosis, none of which are conclusive. I will contact him. Thank you both for these positive posts. I will keep you "posted"!
