  • My dry eyes were cured

I developed dry eyes and also an inability to keep my open in Jan 2009. My eyes hurt, burned, and seemed completely dry. After seeing 2 local opthomologists several times I was referred to UCLA's eye institute. After seeing a dr, there several times I was told I needed a procedure they were working on and it would be available in March 2010. As I didn't see how i could wait (I could not work), i researched on the internet and found the dr. who invented the procedure was in florida near my father. I made an appointment for the procedure. On my FIRST visit the dr. told me it was not the procedure I needed, but extra corneal tissue that had developed in both eyes had to be removed. I needed to have 4 operations and after just the first 2 I had no difficulty with my eyes. If I had waited for the procedure at UCLA I never would have been cured. Dr. Steven ****** - 813-875-0000 in Tampa, FL found what no other Dr. did. He has written a book Reversing Dry Eye Syndrome which tells everything. My condition was in there, however since the Drs. in LA never mentioned it I skipped right over it until he told me about it. I do not know what my life would be without Dr. ******

      Hi,

What do you mean by "I had developed extra corneal tissue that had to be removed"?
How does that help resolving the dry eye?
Why did you develop this extra tissue?
Did you feel it or it could only be observed by a doctor? Four operations sound like a lot to me...

      Thank you for sharing.

        corneal lesions

I had developed corneal lesions from years of sun damage - somehow those lesions diverted the tears. after the surgery I had no problem opening my eyes.

How much did Dr. ******'s treatments cost? Did your medical insurance cover it?
Don't trust any refractive surgeon with YOUR eyes.
