Other than a sceral lense for severe dry eye or contact lenses for the milder form of dry eye, which is supposed to hold mositure on the eye-People have said these contacts have retained mositure for them. Apart from these i cant think of any other contacts available at the moment that would benefit dry eyes in a moderate/severe form anyway. I tried several different types of contacts when my eyes were only mildly dry (year ago), ones that were supposed to retain mositure, they all felt the same i could only tolerate them for a few hours on a good day. Having normal contacts in can not be as comfortable as having them out when you have dry eye in my opinion..I healed my dry eye with nutrition and detoxification. What about Oasis contact lenses? I also tried Proclear & did not do well with them. I've only tried Oasis lenses for 1/2 a day w/ no problems (just got them yesterday). I did try to put them in today, but could not wear them for more than an hr. but many people love them.
Here's some info.
Acuvue Oasis, by Johnson and Johnson, is specifically formulated for people who work or live in dry environments. It is made of high-quality polymer senofilcon A and contains a special rewetting agent - Hydraclear Plus - that makes the lens feel moist even if your eyes don't produce enough tears. Acuvue Oasis is a daily wear contact lens (you should take it off at night), and it should be replaced every two weeks.
Proclear Compatibles, by Cooper Vision, is made from omafilcon A, which has demonstrated very high on-eye water retention, during clinical studies. Also, Proclear uses the revolutionary technology of biocompability. The lens contains PC (phosphorylcholine) - a substance that occurs naturally in human cells. It prevents your body from perceiving contact lens as a foreign object in your eye and trying to reject it. As a result, Proclear Compatibles feel moist and silky in your eye and don't cause dehydration. Proclear are monthly disposable contact lenses.
