How to tell if oil is coming out of glands?

I've been diagnosed with mgd/posterior blepharitis. I do the warm compress and massage regularly, but I don't know if any oil is even coming out of my glands, they never really feel better. How can you tell if oil is coming out of the glands and how can you express the glands on your own? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem, Lacey. I've been doing the warm compresses for weeks now, and I never see anything coming out of the glands - even while using a magnifying mirror.

if your eyes are blurry after warm compress then oil came out

you cant examine it by urself well, need lamp etc

I haven't been able to tell either if oil has come out. Apparently it can be very difficult to see with even a magnifying mirror, especially if the liquid is clear.

When I used just the rice baggy, I used to have slight blurry vision afterwards. Now that I use a wet cloth between the rice baggy and my eyes, it is not blurry. I now wonder if the blurriness I experienced was due to the dry heat of the baggy?

What do the rest of you experience when using a wet cloth in addition to the dry heat?
