I am continuing to research and try to improve my dry eye, I can see it is dramatically better then it used to be a few months ago. Mainly because I use lacri-lube by allergan its about the only thing that lasts in my eye, and can keep it moist, eye drops pretty much last two minutes and genteal just burns. While sleeping still poses a problem since I wake up with redness in my bad eye, at least during the day the lacrilube will help my condition, which is strange because its suppose to be for nighttime use.
This leads me to my problem, the second side of my dry eye appears to be the irritation, the irritation stems from stringy discharge, using the lacrilube sometimes if there is much discharge and my eyes are giving off discharge, it will almost combine with the gel and just give my eyes a terrible feeling making it worse, I try to cleanse my eyes out 4 times a day, but sometimes it just doesnt seem to help, and the discharge wont end, this is where drops help more because they wash it away. I dont know where it comes from, or what it is. And as I mentioned at night or in the mornings after waking up the discharge is always at its worst, which is why I cant put lacrilube in over night, because the discharge mixed with the gel simply seems to make it worse. Also I even have what seems to be mucus from the top corner of my bad eye I can wash out, I only get mucus in the bad eye, the good eye just gets the stringy discharge as well. Whats strange is this mucus comes from the top corner of my eye under my eye lid all the time.
I really dont know what all this means, but dryness is not my latest problem the lacrilube helps it, its batteling with irritation mainly do to the discharge, and the gel lacrilube is almost unusable when my eyes are giving off a discharge, which creates a huge problem because then the eye drops will feel good and wash away the discharge but wont last and my eyes will dry out then.
The circle continues, but most days the discharge wont be bad, and the lacrilube will do its job, and my eyes will typically be clear.
My question basically is where is this discharge coming from, is there tips on how to treat it, and why am I noticin large amounts of mucus under the top corner of my eye lid at times? And why is discharge always worse when I am waking up. aND could my sinuses be playing a role in the mucus discharge that builds up in the corner of my eye?
After the treatment of my glaucoma, I think now that my pressure is fixed, I need to start asking my doctor about my dry eye problems.
I should also note my eyes were absolutely perfectly clear for one month. This may sound weird but at the time my glaucoma was treated by combigan, and generally it has something in it that will take the redness away, but only for a few minutes, typically this past winter it would work and then simply the redness would come back and eye drops wouldnt help. But using lacrilube the month I found it, i would instert the combigan, it would take away redness, then the lacrilube would sustain the whiteness, the dryness and redness would not come back and even help with discharge and gritty feeling in my eyes.
These are all just things I noticed and hope they mean something, because that was the best month of my life when it came to my eyes, after that I had my surgery and no longer needed combigan. So at this point, I am dealing more with redness from irritation. It would be a simply solution if I could use combigan or whatever is in it, along with lacrilube all my life, but I dont think combigan is to be used long term.
