Bicarbonate of soda instead of baby shampoo

Has anyone experience of using bicarbonate of soda solution instead of baby shampoo for eyelid cleaning.

I use it occasionally but not as routine. I would never use baby shampoo anyway because it is too harsh and makes my eye lids worse. Bicarbonate of soda not bad, cheap and easy alternative although doesn't really tackle the excessive oiliness of my lashes
