Contacts for dry eyes - any experiences?

My doc wants me to try contacts for dry eyes. I cant understand how I would tolerate that. Putting things in the sore eyes....
And after lasik I could never use contacts since they didnt fit my corneas. I would be interested in hearing others experiences with this. I.e not sclerals.
