  • Meibography

Hi Everyone Wanting to inform you all to keep you all updated of the New Technology that Is being developed for Dry Eye at the current moment.

As of right now Meibomian gland Dysfunction the Evaporation Dry Eye, or Oil Deficient Dry Eye has no real method of diagnosis, or effective diagnostics, but not for long.

Welcome the Wave of the Future from Japan!

A new Diagnostic Device has been developed in Japan for a new procedure called

    Non-contact Meibograhy

Apparently TOPCON the Japanese Corporation that Manufactures Slit Lamps for In office use has come up with a Slit Lamp accessory that Allows the Practitioner to Do Infrared imaging of the Meibomian glands!
With their BG-4M Attachment to their SL-D7 and SL-D8 Slit Lamp models it provides full Background Illumination of the Meibomian glands with the IR Filter.

For the Practitioner check their website out here:
    http://www.topconmedical.com/products/bg4m.htm

    And some more information Here:

    http://www.topcon.co.jp/en/eyecare/p...iag/sl/bg.html

Even Though The Device Has Not Been Approved Yet By the Food And Drug Administration of the United States, I have heard that the subsidiary of the company that is Based in New Jersey was working on FDA Approval.

If Approved like Japan In the United States We could Have the Best Dry Eye Diagnostic Tools in the world.

Keep your Fingers Crossed folks, Because I think this one is going to make Leaps and Bounds in the Dry Eye Community.

    Sincerely,

    MeibomianGlandMan

here: http://www.journalofoptometry.org/en...culo/90184686/ can be found some information about meibography.

Not only that Japan device is capable of imaging m. glands, but also some 3 devices from bon Optic manufacturer (http://www.bon.de/phoenix-meibograhy...ml?language=en).

And especially this (http://www.oculus.de/en/k5m/download...raph_5M_EN.pdf). It can perform not only meibography but also perform BUT test, tear meniscus height test and the lipid layer and the tear film particles movement examination. So it sounds interesting. It's already on the market, probably also in the US. In Europe definitely.
