Pitcher with dry eye

I'm watching the Yankees/Tigers playoff game and the Tigers' pitcher, Nate Robertson, wears prescription Oakleys while he pitches. I did a search on him and the article below says that he could no longer tolerate contacts - they blurred his vision and made his eyes swollen. I wonder if he has dry eye? I'd bet he does. I feel sorry for him, but in a way it is comforting to see a professional athlete pitching in the playoffs with dry eye.

As a FYI (if anyone cares) Derek Jeter, (I know--the Yankees) grew up in my small Michigan town. He went to high school just a couple of miles down the road!
