Indrep, that's so interesting. How do you control the secretion of the microsphericals? I'm not sure my doc will know about this or consider it. He seems to pass off my probing questions and not be interested in entertaining my concerns. I took a million pictures and none are really showing what I'm talking about, but this one seems to show a hint of the lack of smoothness on the spot directly next to my iris on the side of my inner eye corner. http://www.dryeyezone.com/talk/attac...1&d=1359857557http://www.dryeyezone.com/talk/attac...1&d=1359857557

i saw several before i arrived at this doc. none of the others had any knowledge of how to treat dry eye or the technology to test tears. i'm thinking of going to see dr. latkany even though he's several states away.

The microsphericals are secreted by the meibomian glands along with the lipids.

That appears to be a distortion of the conjunctiva. It could be the earliest of stages of an issue where too much conjunctiva is present. It is very rare and does not cause pain directly. It does disrupt the spreading of the tear film properly. It could also be early stage of a pterygium, also rare.

Thanks, indrep. What can be done to correct a distortion of the conjunctiva? Should I be concerned?

It shouldn't affect your vision and looks far enough away from your cornea to not be much of a factor in tear film distribution. If your eye doc does not see issues with it I would not be concerned.
It sounds like a concentration on helping your meibomian gland secretions would be beneficial.

Ok. I will calm down. I read online that distortion of the conjunctiva could be caused by various cancers of the eye. Is that true? Does anyone else on here have distortion of the conjunctiva? My son has an are on his eye that is not smooth either. He is only 5 years old. Does this kind if thing present at his age often? Should I be concerned about him?

I have had the sensation of something in my left eye for a couple of days now, my eyes can be gritty on a daily basis, but this seems a little persistent. Could it be a blocked gland rubbing? Tried a couple of warm compresses but no joy!

Hi, further to my previous post, my optician said this morning that I have some minor SPK, anyone have any info on this? I believe it is associated with dry eye. No abrasions though, which he dais was good.

                      thanks in advance,
