  • blepharatis, new/old diagnosis

I've got a new diagnosis that I haven't had for ages, "blepharitis", to add to the mix of DED, MGD, ABMD, RCEs, and corneal neuropathy. It's most likely due to a combination of conditions: my new landlady (I rent a room in her house), who told me she rarely smokes, and if she does, stands at door and blows smoke outside....has been smoking like mad which is tearing my eyes up. Also, due to finances, I stopped using my lid scrub Occusoft about a month ago. Had used it faithfully prior to that, once I read on forum about it. Have used lid scrubs for 2 1/2 years, since the botched neurosurgery created most of my problems. Anyhow, my question is, now that it's full-blown, what are the chances that using the lid scrub x2/day, and warm compresses x2/day, will clear it up? I seem to remember that many (most) folks on here have it chronically.

    Help!

Is it really a new diagnosis for you Maria? A lot of docs use blepharitis and MGD interchangeably to a certain extent... personally I think of MGD as a catchall term for all the lid margin disease presentations.

There's a really wide spectrum with bleph from people who get it under control really fast to those who have a lot more trouble with it... hard to predict. I know a lot of people who manage to keep it in good shape with good daily care though. - I used to use saline and Q tips rather than lid scrubs.
