I just read on the Sjogren's World Forum that Lucy passed away. She had been having more severe health problems recently, but this was a such a shock. She was one of most steadfast contributors to our online Dry Eye and Sjogren's community. We will miss her.

        Phyllis

I hate having to write this, just hate it.

For those who aren't connected to her on Facebook... Phyllis Knapp, aka Lucy aka The Dry Eye Queen of yore, passed away this weekend, from what I read unexpectedly of pulmonary fibrosis. She was a 5 year cancer survivor.

Here, she was an institution, though most of the present community probably hardly knew her. She was the oldest of the Old Guard of the online lasik dry eye crowd, still occasionally visiting the forum... She was part of the community on SurgicalEyes (late 90s/early 00's) which long predated both LaserMyEye/D'Eyealogues (03+) and DryEyeTalk (05+). So much character and someone who becomes dearer as years go on. We only met 'real time' a few times, but knew each other for many many years.

        I miss you Phyllis

So sad. I have read so many of her posts and also made contact with her. Seems she had to go through a lot.

I'm too new to remember her, but my sympathies to those who did. Sounds like she was quite a lady.

I fondly remember "Lucy" from the Surgical Eyes days back in 1999. RIP Lucy.

Very sad news. I also knew 'Lucy' from the Sjogrens forum.

A wonderful sense of humour and always willing to help others. She will be missed by many.

She was having a difficult time of late. May she rest in peace.

                      Thoughts are with her family.

OMG! I cannot believe that I am just seeing this terrible news! Lucy was the first person to respond to me when I arrived, and she helped me through a lot of difficult days and nights. I will miss her so much!

FYI I have moved posts from another thread here... the timing makes the order a little funny but just thought it would be good to have it all in one place.

I am very saddened by this news. I remember her great wit and compassion from when I started this board and was struggling with symptoms. She will be greatly missed.

Well crap. I didn't know. Phyllis was one of the first to support me when I was post-lasik and struggling with poor vision and dry eye. I am grateful for her friendship, her humor and for giving me her coattails to ride. Bless her. I have many good memories.
