Hi all. Wondering if anyone has ever had a lengthy surgery with general anesthesia, along with dry eye. I am scheduled for a myomectomy (stupid fibroids) and the surgery is supposed to be approximately 5 hours. I heard that anesthesia has some effect on dry eye since anesthesia makes the eye drier.
Has anyone experienced general anesthesia with severely dry eye? If so, did your dry eye get worse? Did it worsen the symptoms?
I'm praying my surgery goes well and I don't wake up blind!
Thanks in advance for any input.

Actually, my eyes felt better for several days following each procedure. I suspect it is because we can't eat before surgery, and I have food problems linked to dry eye. Also, no computer so our eyes are resting. Best wishes to you. I believe you should be fine.
