  • weird dry eyes

Hi, April 2013 i started getting dry eyes, first red then dry. And it was hectic, all the time. I was at optometrist, GPs , doctors, specialist. Test and what not, no one
knows what to do. It then went away for a few months and after that started occurring just in the mornings. I wake up and my eyes is so dry that i cannot even open them
and it burns like hell. Like 2 am and 7 am, i have to get up and put drops in. It escalates when i drink alcohol. I drink a ton of water daily. I tested my liver, kidneys, pancreas everything seems
normal. When i drink red wine i am a dead man. My eyes is always red. I do have inflammation and these eye ointments before sleep makes it worse. I am helpless and my resources is exhausted.
    Any help?

Thanks for taking the time to read my message.

Fragie, my daughter's eyes and face go red instantly with alcohol, mulled red wine was the worst. She has rosacea, whatever that is, and seems like everyone's sensitivities are different. Seems to be an allergy type IV response to components of diet and chemicals in environment, esp bathroom. We had long years trying to keep the meibomian glands good with warm compresses, although she's doing ok now with gentle eye rub in a warm shower. Did they assess whether you have blocked glands as part of this? And what your tear film is like? Have you noticed any skin problem? We also treat for demodex sometimes. Are you comfortable with the lubricant drops you've got?

Hi, you re using a lot of big words i have no clue about haha. I have no allergies. Never had. Might not be a bad idea to retest for it. I also dont turn red or anything like that. And my result is the same even with no alcohol. I have no skin problems. I got new drops 3 days ago, i wans not confortable with the drop si had, was like water, and went its gone, made no use. Using a night and day gel as well but it seems my situation is worsening.

So you're not doing warm compresses? http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/Dry-eye...roduction.aspx and http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/blephar...roduction.aspx. Did any optometrists observe why you don't have enough tears?
