It seems with most drops with preservatives in, if I put too much in at any one time (like let's say I put 5 drops in accidentally, or put drops in every few minutes), it can make my eyes start burning pretty intensely for a few minutes. It generally goes away if I wipe away the excess drops from my eyelids with a tissue.
I am simply curious as to what happens here. I have experienced this with drops of all different flavours and all different kinds of preservatives. It doesn't seem to happen with non-preserved drops.
It's not a small burning sensation, it's a serious burning sensation that lasts a couple of minutes. What are my eyes doing, and why does it only happen if too much of the drops are applied at any one time?
