This is nerve wracking because for the last month or two I haven't been able to wash my face normally. What I mean by "normal" is splashing water carefully to rinse my face off. When I wash normally at the sink, my left eye (even though it's TOTALLY squeezed shut tight and I keep it closed even while drying my face and eyelids) ALWAYS gets irritated the moment I open my eyes. The corner dot near my noseturns deep red and it feels weird. It then produces a mucus that is sticky and if I remove it, the corner of my vision gets blurry. Then afterwards there is a sensation for the rest of the day/night that something is in my eye.
No matter how gentle I rinse, or what angle I try to rinse with the water, nothing helps... and I know for a fact it's not soap getting into my eye because I rinse my face off very well, and the soap would sting like heck.... it doesn't sting... hmmm.
The only way I can wash my face without this happening is if I wash in segments (forehead separately, dry it s nothing drips near my eyes), then wash the other half of face below my eyes normally. The problem with this is 1) my eyelids are always so oily I NEED to wash my whole face, esp the eyes, 2) and since I can't really rinse my face properly (and wash it in segments instead), I break out LIKE CRAZY because I have to rub instead of rinse! I have sensitive skin so this method is making more problems with my skin just to save my eyes.
Any ideas on what's going on? Why is this just one eye??? And suggestions would be helpful on what to try when washing my face.... thank you. I'm getting really desperate and everyday functions like washing is getting really depressing....
Edit: for those curious, the facewash I use is Simple brand, it is gentle cleanser and SLS-free and has natural ingredients in it.
