Washington Post article on dry eye today

Nothing totally new here, but I just wanted to share this since it's rare to see articles on dry eye conditions in mainstream media

Thank you for posting this. It's such a well-told story... and a *typical* dry eye nightmare! Why does this happen so often?

Here are some of the most poignent parts that I read:

Bream, devastated that the doctor thought she was being a drama queen, vowed never to return.

“The fact that suicide didn’t sound crazy and irrational to me was a wake-up call,” she said.

Looking back, Bream said she is not sure why she waited so long to find a new ophthalmologist — and why she told almost no one, including her parents, about the problem while she was going through it.

“Now I would have immediately started searching for another doctor,” she said. “I think a lot of it was that I was so exhausted and operating in such a diminished capacity.”

Hankm9- Exactly right about the doctors! There are so many out there that don't listen to symptoms and only look at clinical signs. Or in the case of that article dont even look at the clinical signs. I'm sure thats true in all fields of medicine though. We just have a disease that is not easily cured.

It's nice to know other people out there are experiencing the same thing and can relate to it. My eyes are the first thing on my mind in the morning..is it going to be a good or bad day?
