Blepharospasm?

I've struggled for years and have had no relief. I've tried all OTC, serum drops, FML, Restasis, plugs, Prose lenses, and 5 IPL treatments. I have gotten zero relief from any of it. Yesterday I went to see yet another specialist. I was told I most likely have Benign Essential Blepharospasm. They have sent me to another specialist where the most likely treatment will be Botox injections.

While I'm slightly encouraged that I might have some answers, I'm also a little frustrated that this is the first time I'm hearing of this.

Does anyone have experience with this?

Thanks for sharing Jahcpa. I had a similar patient. I will admit blepharospasm did not come to mind immediately. It was actually after about the fourth visit honestly that it crossed my mind. The patient just kept blinking over and over, and I thought it was simply due to constant severe dry eyes, maybe due to some autoimmune issue. I sent her for botox injections and she noted IMMEDIATE relief. It is definitely something we need to be watching for. Hope the shots help!

Thanks Doc. I understand. I also believed my eyes were closing so much because they were dry. Of course I never heard of blepharospasm before. I did have the botox and now actually have had 4 treatments (2 months apart). They have been a miracle. I feel like I have my life back and can even drive a little again. I recently started taking Taurine and that also seems to be helping a little.
