  • Possible sjogren's syndrome?

Hello, everyone. I went to get my blood taken yesterday and during my physical examination the doctor brought up the possibility of sjogren's syndrome after noticing my lips were dry. Thing is, my lips have always had a habit of cracking since I was very little, and I always thought it had to do with my overjet and tendency to sleep with my mouth open. She asked if my mouth felt dry and I said no, but now after worrying about it my mouth does indeed feel dry, but maybe that's because I'm so nervous about having it?

When I had a shirmirs test done my opthamologist said I wasn't producing enough tears, but after sticking q tips up my nose she said my reflex tears were good and normal. So I don't know what the problem is or if that somehow related to sjogren's, but I've heard some people say if your reflex tears aren't the problem then it's probably no sjogren's?

I'm only 19 and the thought of having something potentionally worse than dry eyes is terrifying. I can't imagine being able to cope with that, as I can barely cope with my condition now.

All I can say is keep on moving forward. Worrying about stuff doesn't help one bit. Ever since my allergic reaction my mouth, eyes, and nose tend to be dry all the time. On top of that I have 9 finger nails that are deformed. Keep on moving forward and do not let anything bring you down. As a wise man once said take it one day at a time.
