Can't find pharmacy that has Lacriserts

My ophthalmologist recently prescribed Lacrisert for me, but my regular pharmacy said it was back ordered and unavailable until some time in June. The doc's office called around to other pharmacies in my area and was told either they don't carry it or don't have it. Anyone know if there's a problem with the supplier (Bosch and Lomb, I think). Has anyone gotten in lately?

I'm having the same problem. After 7 years of wearing Lacriserts and them literally giving me my life back I'm down to 5 days supply (5 more coming in the mail from a doctor who had a sample) After I had my second child I was diagnosed with severe dry eyes and later Sjrogren's. I already have autoimmune hepatitis diagnosed at 17 years old... I'm now 38. Anyway, for a couple years I used drops constantly, restasis and lubricant at night and rarely could I stay ahead of my sandpaper, bloodshot, glossy looking eyes and then I found Lacriserts!!' Lifesaver!! I can wear them for 6-8 hours comfortably and sometimes more and rarely did I use drops. I still use restasis and lubricant but I was now able to focus on my kids, my family, my work as a dental hygienist and not be consumed by putting drops in. Well, when I tried to reorder them through Kaiser I was told they were on back order through May. I've now resorted to calling ophthalmologists and other Kaiser pharmacies to possibly find a box that might not have been picked up. In the meantime I've gone to my eye doctor and made an appointment to be fitted for scleral lenses. I'm not excited about this option but hopeful they can work. I NEED some alternative that can provide all day moisture and relief, so I'll give them a shot. I've also called Bausch and Lomb directly and they have no idea when manufacturing will resume, but said to call back early June. As of now their wherehouse is empty..according to the Lacriserts specialist I spoke to. No other details were given Would they be discontinued? Will there be a generic replacement? I'm so bummed and stressed about this and trying desperately to stay positive. Any information from you or anyone else on this matter would be greatly appreciated. By the way I am so happy I found this site

I had the same issue and after numerous calls to bahsch and lomb I found out the manufacturing was moved and created a backlog. They are available again thank goodness. The ndc number changed too so tell your pharmacy I use 4 at a time 2x a day so I depend on them!!! They assured me they will not be discontinued. In the 2 months I went without I started using a sceral lens but now that lacriserts are back I use both. Almost no pain but still depend on them.

Hi, not coping well at all. Extremely low on supply (10 left) and now I've stopped using them and planning to use one (cut in half) every third day. Anyone have any extra stock? I've called dozens of Canadian online pharmacies but they all use dispensers which are on backorder .

We have been told it’s a machinery issue and not to expect more until 2022. I am trying autologous serum drops. Not as good but surviving. I cut mine in half for quite a while to make them last. Apparently several pieces of equipment have been replaced but the replacements have failed. Such a difficult time when you rely on them. We are continuing to ask B and L when so they know we need them.

Last I checked a few months ago, they said Feb 2022. Now after asking a few weeks ago, they are saying May 2022. Hopefully it doesn't keep getting pushed back like this ...

Golly. I don’t really think they know as until they try the equipment again… the autologous drops didn’t work for me. I ended up with filamentary keratosis and am now on n-acetylcysteine drops made, via script from my specialist, by a compounding chemist. Three times a day plus lubricating drops, (i have found Bion Tears very good). At least i am surviving which i wasn’t sure would be possible as my pain levels were very high without the Lacriserts.
