Hi,
ever since I was young I was prone to styes, but they always resolved until my nightmare started in December last year. I was imprisoned for drug consumption for 6 months and while in there developed a stye that wouldn't go away. Soon I had multiple lumps on my eyes, around 4 on my upper lid and 4 on my lower lid. Since I was in prison the treatment they gave me was totally ineffective. That combined with the dirty environment my eyes were a complete mess. Upon release I went straight to an opthmalogist and she only removed 2 from the bottom because she said the rest were too small to be removed. A week later the ones on my upper lid got more red and inflamed so I went to another opthalmalogist and this time she removed them all, she said she got 3-4 on my upper lid and also had to make 2 incisions on the bottom. Now almost 2 weeks later my eyes are noticeably better but still swollen. Is this normal? The upper lid is thicker than the other and a little red/purple sometimes. I also still feel a few lumps on the bottom I don't know if they recurred or are just remnants. I've been doing warm compresses and lid scrubs but the improvement seems to have halted. I'm going to the opthalmologist again on monday for a follow up but I wanted to know what else I can do besides conservative treatment + doxycycline. Does swelling usually take longer to improve or are my eyes already permanently damaged
