  • Can Lasik Cause Posterior Blepharitis

I suddenly noticed dry eye symptoms roughly 3 months ago (story in another post). I have been told that I have vascular inflammation of the inner eyelid.
Other that that tear production (aqueous) and glands are not blocked, the inflammation is the only thing preventing enough oil being produced.

I had Lasik roughly 3 years ago, it seems unlikely that Lasik caused this but is it possible/ likely?

Also, doesn't Lasik typically cause an aqueous deficiency not a lipid deficiency?

    Thanks Matt

I had PRK and did not develop dry eye until 3 or 4 years after the surgery. I was prone to dry eye prior to the surgery, got an eye infection or two, and finally had horrible dry eye, MGD and a terrible tear film. I think it is a matter of one symptom feeding off another. It is kind of a chicken before the egg problem with which came first; oil problems or tear problems. They both feed off one another.
