  • Dry eye symptoms reduced by rheumatoid arthritis drug: Study

Article posted by Devon Andre on Thursday, August 11, 2016.

    http://www.belmarrahealth.com/dry-ey...is-drug-study/

    Excerpts from article:

"The study conducted by the researchers from the Massachusetts Eye and Ear, Harvard Medical School, and Brigham and Women’s hospital shows that topical anakinra, which is an approved treatment for rheumatoid arthritis, significantly reduces dry eye symptoms."

"In the trial taking place over the course of 16 weeks, 75 participants were randomly assigned to different treatments, including the rheumatoid arthritis treatment. Anakinra at 2.5 percent was four times more likely to eliminate corneal staining, which is used as a measurement of dry eye disease. It was also found to significantly reduce dry eye symptoms – in fact, six times more effectively than regular eye ointments."

I just read this yesterday. I also read a few weeks ago that there will be research going on about stem cells and dry eye as some wonderful woman left 5 million for it.

thank you for posting this link, funny enough one of the drugs/abx they use to treat arthritis is also known to help dry eye as a side effect (mentonzole) (spelling might be wrong) so they find out some benefits for dry eye suffers it seems when they do research into this.
People have recovered, so can we.
