Hi all,
I think that we can do something to help ourselves, something to provide us with better options than scleral lenses and artificial tears. For example we can sign a petition in order to ask Allergan to bring Oculeve implants into the market, because the handheld device will not be convenient for severe dry eye patients as it has a temporary effect, we can't use it at nights while sleeping, it's not nice for use in public and the implants increase tear secretion more, because one can be inserted near lacrimal gland and one in the nose. Also we can urge a clinical trial that involves implanting abdominal artificial tear reservoirs which has been done before and has been successful for severe dry eye patients. I know you may think that signing petitions is useless, but I really think that it's possible to ask Allergan to do that, because they already have the device and they have done the trials, but they are only planing to get the handheld device approved. I'll be glad to hear your idea about this.
