Hello to you all,
I desperately need help!
I am waking several times a night from my sleep. I either wake up to put eye drops in or I just roll over either way I wake up. I am exhausted!!
My eyes are in the main fine during the day but some days they feel dry. Though they physically look ok.
History
I had Lasik in 2001.
Eye lid surgery 2004
I had a sleep study that came eack a negative for sleep apnea, but they said that I was waking between 15 to 24 times an hour!! but couldn't tell me why. Although I was complaining to them that I had fibromyalgia in my arms (GP diagnosed this 10 years ago).
What I have found out
Anyway I bought a internet webcam and installed it over my bed.
Basically, either my left or right eye/nose muscle twitches I awake and either my left or right hand moves to my face as a reaction to the twitch
The twitches start about 2 hours into sleep, then between 2.5 hours I will fully wake as my eyes are dry and my lids feel tight. I put eyedrops in. this repeats for the entirety of the night.
My partner noticed whilst I was napping that my eyelids do not fully shut.
I wake up with dry and eyelids feel tight band across them.
Current
I have tried every ointment/ eye drops out there from Hycosan extra to systane nightime oitment (I only buy preservative free). I put them in just before bed, they donot help but not enough.
I have been using EyeEco Eyeseals 4.0 but I am still twitching and waking with dry eyes to put drops in and feel like a banding/uncomfortable eyelids as well.
I think the Eyeseals are keeping the moisture in as I have condensation within the cups that runs out on removal of the mask (and runs on to my nose with mask on)
I have seen an optician who said I had dry eyes and has recommended a visit to an eye clinic.
1. Is there something I am missing reference the Eyeseals? Why are my eyes still dry overnight?
2. I read on the internet that Twitching around the eyes could be related to dry eyes.Has anyone had a similar experiences?
3. I read also about Meibomian glands, could this be the problem and why nothing helps?
Thank you all !!!!
