  • How can you tell the difference between dry eyes, episcleritis and ocular rosacea?

All three have very similar symptoms (red veiny eyes, stinging, burning, light sensitivity, etc,..) How do you distinguish each one?

You can add RCE to the list of things with those symptoms. If it is due to MDF, there's a distinctive pattern on the cornea that can be seen by a specialist under lights. If it is an erosion, it is also visible to a specialist with the same equipment, but the cause (abrasion, dry eye, etc) may not be so obvious. Identifying it yourself is almost impossible.

So does ocular rosacea only happen to people with facial rosacea? Or can things like an infection or computer vision syndrome cause it?

You can have ocular rosacea with or without facial rosacea and vice versa. But it is common to have both. The cause is technically unknown but prevalent among people of Northern European decent. Check out https://www.rosacea.org/.
