  • Referal to Boston Foundation for site doesn't mention Lasik or other problems

I feel as if I am bothering my ophthalmologist and my optometrist (actually he's a lot more than that) by asking them to help me get funding for Prose appliance fitting at Boston Foundation for Site.

the email sent to them is lacking.

It doesn't mention I went to another eye doctor to be treated for dry eye syndrome and cataract surgery and was told Lasik would help. Now I'm on the end of the chart for dry eye and dsperatee. When I ask for help I am clearly annoying my doctors. What the heck do I do now? I have Medicare but I'm told you stay at a hotel and the whole process could take days and costs up to $6K.

    Hi, Max,

I'm sorry you are having trouble getting relevant information included on your PROSE treatment referral. You might find some resolution by contacting the BFS and discussing this with our New Patient Inquiries Coordinator, Gillian Fontana. You can reach her by phone at: 781-726-7501 or via our online contact form found here: http://www.bostonsight.org/Contact. Select "New Patient Inquiries" from the pull down menu to ensure it goes to Gillian.

    Wishing you well,

We can't afford $6,000 after insurance, not counting hotel stay. It's not worth fighting.

So you can't afford it and will just quit? No way! Use the contact info they provided you above, and see what they say - they say they won't turn anyone away who cannot afford to pay, so start a dialogue with them and see what comes of it. I know how frustrating it can be to have to fill out forms, the uncertainty of wondering if it will all be a waste of time or not, the unfairness of it all.. but keep plodding along and see what happens... you have to follow every road and see where it leads you... you never know which one will be the one that will benefit you the most in the end
