  • undereye swelling

I have been using Oasis Plus and not sure if its the reason but when I wake up in the mornings my eyes are now more baggy than they were before I started using drops. Just wondering if there is an association with eye drops and swelling under the eyes? on top of everything else this has me feeling really depressed I am of an age where eye bags are normal but never had a big problem Also, my ophthalmologist didn't mention washing the eyelids/lashes so not sure whether I should do that? TIA

Hi Brit. As far as washing your eyelids/lashes, it usually depends on if your ophthalmologist diagnosed you with MGD/blepharitis. Did they identify the cause of your dry eyes? Besides the artificial tears, what other treatment are you doing?

When I started using eye drops and warm compresses, I also thought my eyes looked more baggy and tired, but don't know if one or both of those things were to blame, or if it was because I was struggling with the dry eyes. Until the dryness got better, Iooking back at pictures my eyes always looked terrible. It could be you are getting swelling from the eye drop because the skin under the eye is very thin and sensitive, perhaps its soaking up the drops and retaining the fluid. Or you might be having an allergic reaction to the ingredients in the drops, so maybe try a different drop.
