  • undiagnosed issue

    Hi everyone,

I'm reposting this hoping for some feedback because my issue is really annoying.

Couple of months ago, I was wearing my Sclerals (I'm a Keratoconus patient) while running. My left eye got a lot of sweat in it and I couldn't rub it off because of the lens. So my lower lid experienced a stinging sensation that left the white portion of the eye under my lower lid very irritated and grainy. Fast forward to now, I experience sporadic irritation and itchy lower lid issues. Its so annoying because it leaves my eye a bit dry partially, itchy sensation, and irritation.

What could possibly be the issue guys? I'm trying to apply refresh plus drops, hot compresses, Retaine, but the issue still persists.

Any feedback would be very helpful.

Hi Alixenos. Did you have your eye doctor look at it? It's possible you got an infection or scratch which needs to be treated with an antibiotic or other rx meds, and might need to stop wearing your sclerals for awhile to let it heal.

Also check your lens for any small chips or cracks. One time one of my eyes was bothering me on and off for a week, and I finally examined my lens closely and noticed a very tiny chip at the edge of the lens.

Do you clean your lenses nightly 1) using a cleaner like Lobob ESC where you put a few drops on the lens and rub it between your fingers, AND 2) putting the lenses in a disinfecting case with an overnight cleaner like Clear Care? Just wanted to double check.

I second Hokucat, best to have an ophthalmologist check for any recurring infection. This can collect as discharge at the bottom of the eye. Meibomian gland dysfunction can sometimes feel the same though, so worth asking them about that too while they're looking at your lower eyelid.

Hope you find an answer and relief soon.

        Hi Hokucat, PhoenixEyes.

Yes I'm very meticulous when it comes to cleaning/storing my contacts. I went to my ophthalmologist and he made and MGD test and dry eye test. He said that my MGD looked fine and there was a partial dryness on where the lower lid was bothering me and still. He couldn't pinpoint what was causing this recurrent dryness and irritation.

Currently I'm experiencing episodes of relief and not any dryness or irritation whatsoever. This doesn't sustain unfortunately and the situation comes back. It's just very annoying and confusing to me as why my lower left eye lid doesn't bother me some days, and comes back bothering me so much other days.

I'm kind of hopeless going to visit my doctor because He can't seem to be able to figure out what is going on!! I'm targeting my diet now and will see if I get any results.

Thanks a lot for the support
