  • Lacrimal glans swollen?

Hey, I'm wondering if the lacrimal glands are getting involved in the whole inflammation part with dry eyes? My Lacrimal glands look a bit swollen and veiny when I pull my upper lid up. And often my eyes burn despite that they are watery at this moment. Or this is a sure way to tell you got a problem with an autoimmune disease??

I'd see an ophthalmologist for a diagnosis. If the lacrimal gland is swollen you might be able to notice swelling of the skin under your eyebrow on the outer edge where the gland is located. Apparently swelling / inflammation of the lacrimal gland has a name, dacryoadenitis.

It's possible you might be seeing the tarsal plate of the eyelid (Fig. 3.4 on the link below) and there could be conjunctivitis there due to irritation from allergies, contact lens wear, etc. Best to ask an ophthalmologist.
