  • Onion Tears versus Other Tears

    Interesting news story:

"Above, you can see a crop of "Onion tears" on the left and 'Tears of grief' on the right. You can see full-sized images at her website and at the Smithsonian's Collage of Arts and Science blog."

Very interesting. Unfortunate that I can not reap the benefit of either tear

Certainly basal tears—like those that issue when chopping onions—have a different chemical component than psychic tears—like tears of joy and grief.

Strange. They call "onion tears" basal tears. From what I've read here and elsewhere, they are not basal tears.

Well, this may explain why my own different tears feel so different to me. Happy emotional tears are the best. They seem to be the most soothing. I have thought sometimes that instead of irrigating with sterile saline .9% it would be better to cry a happy emotional tear for a few moments each day. Tears of fear or despair are the worst and to be avoided. I don't like angry tears either. They seem to be very caustic.
