  • Upper lid pain

I have dry eyes(mgd) for half a year. Now my doctor says that my eyes look fine, and my glands look fine. But I always feel pain on my upper lid, so I have to keep my eyes closed most of the day. Does anyone have similar experience? What should I do?

Is it a feeling of pain/pinching or more like aching/pressure (as in sinus pressure)? There is a type of neuralgia below the brow that swimmers experience when wearing goggles that are too tight.

There are many different issues that can cause lid pain, including a blocked meibomian gland. There may be a lash growing in the wrong way, like an ingrown lash. Only a doctor will be able to see via exam. A muscle spasm in the eye lid can also cause sever pain. You can try massaging gently directly on the spot with your finger. There's also a spot behind the ears that is like a trigger point. Another is the back of the neck where there is an indentation to either side of center. If you can find these spots and press on them, you might get relief.
