  • New Seciera Drug

Could not find any topic about this and thought it might be interesting for us:

    http://www.sunpharma.com/sites/defau...20Seciera-.pdf

    https://www.aop.org.uk/ot/science-an...dry-those-eyes

Summary: Seems like this drug is a modified Version of cyclosporine A, where a protein named lacritin was discovered and hence added to cyc A (since often missing in many dry eye patients).

According to the Sun Pharma company, it took only 12 weeks to see significant improvements for 455 out 744 participing dry eye sufferes in clinical tests. Drops may be available soon in Europe, US, Japan.

    What do you guys think?

I think they are actually two separate medicines mentioned in the same article. The lacritin / lacripep and a different cyclosprin nano formulation called Seciera.

In the UK and other countries we already have Ikervis that uses nano molecules to improve penetration to the cornea (Retaine MGD / Cationorm mineral oil lubricant eye drops also uses the same kind of thing - branded as "Novasorb" technology). Hopefully the Sun Pharma version reaches the US and other countries where Ikervis isn't available. There's a bit of info here about the nano technology for both Ikervis and Seciera:

Lacritin / lacripep looks very promising. There's more info about it in this recent article:

It's just unfortunate development is so slow. Last I heard the estimated release date is 2021
